Parks, greenery help reduce diabetes & hypertension among elderly
A study published in an American journal emphasizes the importance of parks and greenery for human health. Research shows that living amidst greenery can reduce chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension and lipid disorders among the elderly.
Researchers analyzed 250,000 participants over the age of 65 years and the vegetation presence around them based on satellite imagery. The findings show a 14% lower risk for diabetes, a 13% reduction for hypertension and a 10% for cholesterol related disorders.
