Will Telugu Desam Party stay on as BJP's ally in South? Crucial meeting today

The Telugu Desam Party, which is the BJP’s largest ally in the South, will decide whether or not it will carry on being in the National Democratic Alliance at an emergency meeting of party MPs today. The TDP is unhappy with the BJP over the Union Budget.

TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu held a long meeting with senior leaders of his party on Friday to seek their views.

Almost all the leaders suggested that the TDP should pull out of the NDA quickly as staying onw ould send a wrong message to the party members.

The TDP and BJP alliance won 18 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats and 103 of the 175 assembly seats of Andhra Pradesh in 2014.

The TDP is unhappy with how their demands have been ignored by the BJP over the last four years. They also opposed the triple talaq Bill in the Rajya Sabha
