Top baby food brand Gerber's model of the year is a boy with Down syndrome
For the first time ever, top baby food brand Gerber has chosen a child with Down syndrome as its 'spokesbaby'.
Lucas, the boy with the chromosomal disorder was chosen from more than 1,40,000 entries. He is the first child with special needs to receive this honour and was chosen for his expressive face and winning smile.
Since 2010, Gerber has selected a baby annually to represent its brand through an online photo search contest. Lucas will be featured on Gerber’s social media channels and in advertisements. The family will also receive US$ 50,000.
His family hopes that this will shed light on the special needs community and educates people that individuals with special needs have the potential to change the world, if they get the right support and potential.
