Blind woman to judge beauty contest in Canada
Ashlet Nemeth, a legally blind woman, will be one of the judges at the Mrs.Canada Globe beauty contest.
She will judge the contestants based on her ability to recognise inner beauty.
When Nemeth was asked to be one of the judges, she was initially unsure but she later remembered that beauty was also on the inside. Canada Globe, the organisation behind the competition, says they are excited to have her as one of the six judges, as they hope it will encourage every woman to enter irrespective of shape, size, age, colour, ability or disability.
Nemeth's vision problems began in her early childhood due to a genetic disease called ocular albinism. By the time she was a teenager, she had lost most of her vision.
As a motivational speaker, her goal is to break down the barriers people face and feel due to disability.
