Apps that help disabled kids learn sign language
Valerie Carter lives in California in USA and has started a non-profit organization called the GraceSigns.
GraceSigns is involved in the creation of sign language and literacy apps that help children with disabilities.
Valerie Carter has a daughter with Down syndrome and apraxia and that makes it difficult for her to communicate her thoughts.
To make it easier to communicate they learned sign language and now use signs to talk about their day to day life with more clarity.
This gave her the idea to help other children with disabilities and their parents.
The app uses various methods such as stories, song and video and characters based on children with disabilities.
GraceSigns released their first app called the Sign Me A Story, in 2013 and is set to release Sign Me ABC’s next month.
