Scientists have discovered that mental disorders such as autism, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder have more in common medically.
The research has found that these mental disease have a similarity at the molecular level and show an activation of genes in brain cells called astrocytes and suppression of genes which function at the junctions between two nerve cells in brain.
The results of the study can help get a better understanding of the disorders and create effective diagnostic and treatment system.
This would mean improvement in the lives of millions of people who suffer from these mental disorders.
