Centre raises quota in government jobs for disabled to 4%

The Centre has raised reservation in government jobs for the disabled from 3% to 4%. Similarly disabled quota in educational institutes has been hiked to 5% from 3%.

This was announced by Union Minister for Social justice and Empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot in Dehradun. He said this while speaking in a ceremony organised to mark the opening of a new building of special education and research department at the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD)

The new building aims to offer better facilities to students so they can display their talents. The government claims to have modernised all NIEPVD institutes and set up 18 Braille presses.

The CM reiterated the commitment of his Government for welfare of the differently abled. The officers and employees of the institute were also felicitated on the occasion.

The programme was attended by top ministers in the Uttar Pradesh government.
