Access the Disability Information Line for news about benefits for the community

Due to lack of awareness among the disabled, early identification and rehabilitation process for people with disabilities tends to get delayed. Even benefits about the services offered by the government and NGOs working in this sector does not get to those who need it

To address this the Disability Information Line (DIL), which is a telephonic service to provide information on major disabilities has been launched. This will be about causes, prevention, diagnosis, interventions/treatments, aids and appliances, education, employment, service providers list, government schemes and benefits - all of this will be available on the DIL.

To provide state specific information and to offer local language support, the DIL has been set up at different regions. The general awareness information is common at all regions and additionally each region has a state specific list. The process to add more state specific information is still on.

The Disability Information Line is accessible round the clock through telephone as it is an Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS). Information can be obtained in English, Hindi or the regional language. There is a call attendant service during working hours as well. The DIL can be accessed from any part of India by calling the nearest centre.
