Kerala government to write off loans of disabled people who are deceased

The government of Kerala has decided to write off the loans of the disabled who have passed away. It has also decided to start a one-time settlement scheme for those who have pending loans. The loans of 28 disabled people will be written off as a result, and 250 of them, who have defaulted on loans, will get the chance to make a one-time settlement.

Tricycles will also be distributed to 1,000 people with disabilities this year. Besides this, scooters will also be distributed by the Kerala State Handicapped Persons’ Welfare Corporation.

Camps will also be held for the disabled for distributing disability aids. The camps will be held at:

  • Thavanoor (Malappuram) - 3 March, 2018
  • Perambra (Kozhikode) - 10 March, 2018
  • Tiruvalla (Pathanamthitta) - 17 March, 2018
  • Aryad (Alappuza) - 24 March, 2018

Rs 1.5 crore has also been sanctioned for buying smart phone tablets for the blind and this is being done in partnership with the Kerala Federation of the Blind. Besides this, laptops will be distributed to 100 blind kids by 10 March.
