Mother's story about disabled daughter hooks readers

Manali is a 26-year-old woman from Thane, near Mumbai, who was born with a congenital disease called Spina Bifida due to which she is not able to walk.

Her parents decided to help her learn creative arts and that has allowed Manali to realize her potential in life.

Her mother Samita Kulkarni, has written a book on her life and the book has found many readers in the ongoing Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan in Gujarat.

The book contains the details of challenges that she faced and how she worked through them with the love and support of her parents.

Manali teaches paintings and making artworks to students. She can also recite Bhagwad Geeta and has won 52 awards, including one prestigious award from former President APJ Abdul Kalam for her creative skills.

Smita was inspired to write the book titled ‘Wheel Power’ to help other children with physical disabilities and their parents.

She feels proud of Manali’s achievement and hopes others may also find a way to get motivated by reading her story.
