Kids bullied by siblings more likely to develop signs of schizophrenia
A recent study says that people who have been bullied by their siblings during childhood have a three-time higher chance of suffering from psychotic disorders like schizophrenia later on in life.
Study published in the journal ‘Psychological Medicine’.
As kids spend most of their childhood with their siblings inside homes, being bullied can lead to social defeat, self- blame and other mental disorders at an early stage in their childhood.
Nearly 4000 people were given a questionnaire to fill. 664 were victims of sibling bullying, while 486 children bullied their siblings. Whether they are victims themselves or bully their siblings, chances of psychotic disorder are high.
Children who are bullied at school by their peers also get affected badly by mental disorders.
