Engineer sentenced to death for rape & murder of 7-year-old

S Dhasvanth, a 24-year-old engineer from Chennai, has been sentenced to death for the kidnapping, rape and murder of seven-year-old Hasini in 2017.

After raping the child, he had burnt the little girl’s body and disposed her off in a travel bag.

Dhasvanth was arrested, but was later released on bail in September 217 and then went on to murder his mother in December 2017.

He escaped with her jewelry and was arrested in Mumbai by the police after a manhunt.

The case had grabbed a lot of attention and outcry from the public as the accused managed to commit another crime while out on bail and showed no remorse.

The court examined 30 witnesses, 45 documents and 19 pieces of evidence to reach the decision.
