Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2018 rules modified, age limit for disabled modified

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released an important notification regarding certain changes in the eligibility criteria for the upcoming UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2018.

Candidates who want to take the IAS exam must read these new details before filling the online application forms.There are changes in the relaxation in the upper age limit under the eligibility clause of the recruitment process.

The provisions for extending the upper age limit are to be read as up to a maximum of five years if a candidate comes under the following categories.

  • Blindness and low vision
  • Deaf and hard of hearing
  • Locomotor disability, which includes cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy
  • Autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness
  • Multiple disabilities from among people under the last mentioned categories, including deaf-blindness will be eligible for grant of cumulative age-relaxation under both the categories.
