Job fairs for disabled people to be held in all districts of Kerala
The State handicapped persons' welfare corporation in Kerala has decided to organize job fairs in all districts to provide jobs for people with disabilities.
The announcement was made by the minister for social justice, K K Shailaja.
To make sure that maximum number of disabled aspirants are covered by the job fairs, district-wise data base will be created.
Recently a job fair was Ernakulam, with the help of the local employment exchange and it received a very positive response.
More than 160 disabled candidates were shortlisted at the fair and 40 candidates with disabilities got placed.
Kerala government is aiming to create a disabled-friendly state and is launching schemes to that effect.
The government will be giving three-wheeled scooters, as part of Shubhayatra scheme to around 1,000 disabled people.
Another scheme is for writing of the loans of disabled people who have passed away and also allowing a one-time settlement scheme for those who have pending loans.
The government will be spending an amount of Rs 1.83 crore for the purpose.
