Improve your mental well being with the new NIMHANS app

The National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Bengaluru has developed an app called Wellness-Check. The app can help you know your social, emotional and psychological wellbeing and assess how positive you are.

Wellness-Check, which can be used through a computer and mobile phone, asks many questions about the user’s behaviour over the past month and pattern of activities. Boredom and irritability levels too are assessed.

This is the second app developed by NIMHANS. In 2016, it launched PUSH-D (Practice and Use Self-Help for Depression) to help patients affected by depression. Wellness-Check, which has been developed with funding from the Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi, can be used to assess stress levels.

Experts at NIMHANS say that Wellness-Check is not a tool for psychiatric diagnosis. It is meant to increase the mental health of people and motivate them to reflect on their present state and work towards improving it.

The internet-based program gives the user a break from the hectic pace of daily life and reflect on health. Wellness-Check helps access basic information on ways to improve wellbeing.

You can download Wellness-Check NIMHANS on Google PlayStore. Log in to fill the wellness check survey. You can then go to MY Summary pages and view feedback.
