Amputation after accident, man offered 45 lakh by court
A man who was disabled due to a freak accident was awarded nearly 45 lakh rupees as compensation. Ashok Kumar lost his leg after a crane ran over his leg while walking on the road. Now, he is permanently disabled. The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) asked the owners and the insurance company to pay the amount.
Ashok Kumar works as a security officer for a company. The incident happened last year on August 2nd, around 2 p.m. Ashok Kumar was walking for work near the Okhla area in New Delhi. A rashly and negligently driven crane came and hit him from behind. The crane ran over his left leg, leading him to permanent disability because his leg had to be amputated.
The driver and owner of the crane company did not file a reply during the court proceedings. The Insurance company tried to pay Ashok Kumar 1 lakh rupees after his leg was amputated. But Ashok Kumar refused to accept the amount. He decided to go to court because his leg had to be amputated.
