Southern Railways starts helpline for disabled people

If you have a disability, and face a problem while traveling on Southern Railways, you now have a number to call for help.

In order to help disabled people, Southern Railways has launched a helpline. Disabled people can call at this number if they have any concerns, complaints or suggestions.

The helpline number is 044-25354457. It is open 24 hours of the day.

Manning the helpline is a team of dedicated officers, who will help resolve any issues. The decision to start such a helpline was taken by the Commercial Department of the Chennai division of Southern Railways after directives from the Delhi High Court.

Of late, many disabled people have been complaining about the rude and unhelpful behaviour shown by Railways staff. There were protests held by disability rights groups in 30 stations across Tamil Nadu earlier this week. They were demanding better infrastructure facilities.

There are other helpline numbers that disabled people can reach as well. These are 138, 182, and 1512. These are open 24 hours of the day.
