Sridevi bid goodbye by thousands of grieving fans

The last rites of veteran actor Sridevi took place yesterday in Mumbai.

She was bid goodbye by her family, thousands of her fans, and members of the film industry.

For her final journey, the beautiful actor was wrapped in a red silk saree.

Sridevi was cremated with state honours and received a gun salute at her funeral. Her body was wrapped in the national flag.

Earlier in the day, Sridevi’s body was kept inside a glass casket at a venue in Mumbai, where fans turned up in thousands to pay their last respects.

Actors Chiranjeevi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and many more came to pay their respects to the iconic actor.

Police had to use force to disperse the crowds, when the truck, her body was laid in, started moving towards the crematorium.

Fans kept walking in huge numbers beside the truck. Many were seen holding her pictures and grieving.

The sudden death of the 54-year-old actor was a shock to the nation.

She died on Saturday night after she accidentally drowned in the bathtub of her hotel room in Dubai.

Sridevi was known as the first female superstar of India.

Starting from the age of four years, the versatile and super talented actor worked in 300 films in several languages over 50 years.

With every performance Sridevi created a higher benchmark for acting. The actor was loved and almost worshiped by her fans all over the world.

In 2013, Sridevi was voted 'India's Greatest Actress of All Time' in CNN-IBN Poll.

Her last onscreen appearance was in Shah Rukh Khan's Zero, which will release later this year.
