Border Security Force officials organize event for disabled children
The Border Security Force (BSF) in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, organized an event for 53 children with disabilities. BSF officers and jawans, led by the commandant, Vipin Panti, organized a session for the kids. They spoke about how disability must never act as a block to achieving things in life.
The officers talked about artistes, writers, and sportspersons with disabilities, who had achieved great things. People like Stephen Hawking, Helen Keller, Sudha Chandran, Arunima Sinha, and Rajendra Singh Rahelu were given as examples.
At the session, the many schemes started by the central government for disabled people was also discussed. These included the Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan program started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015. Under this program, public buildings in India are to be made disabled-friendly.
The BSF also distributed wheelchairs, walking sticks, hearing aids, and other assistive devices to children with disabilities. They motivated them to look past the barriers and achieve great things.
