Shoes with laser tech to reduce risk of falling for elderly & people with Parkinson's
A new technology has been developed that can help people who suffer from a feeling that their feet are freezing while walking. It's a sensation that often leads to falls.
These shoes are called Path Finder with lasers that give out green lines ahead as the person walks. The lasers are activated by a sensor in the heels that monitors the person's walking pattern and speed. The lines help people walk more confidently as it gives a path ahead.
The shoes are being tested for effectiveness on patients, their carers and scientific experts. It can help people with motion issues caused by injury, ageing and diseases like diabetes, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s. In Parkinson’s, a part of the brain is damaged over years. Among the symptoms are involuntary shaking, slow movement and stiff muscles.
