People with disabilities go on a protest march in Gujarat

Over 20 people with disabilities are marching from Junagadh to Gandhinagar in Gujarat for their rights. More people are expected to join the march from other cities in Gujarat, including Rajkot.

The Shree Divyang Adhikar March is being held to demand rights regarding pension, unemployment allowance, and housing. There are many other demands being raised as well, like houses under residential schemes like Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojna.

The Shree Divyang Adhikar March is expected to reach the Gujarat capital, Gandhinagar, in 14 days.

The protesters will put forward the demands to Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani after they reach the state capital.

The protestors say they have been raising their demands with the government for over a year. They have also been knocking on the doors of collectors and state ministers. No action has been taken so far.

They also say that their families regard disabled people as a burden. This makes it even more important for the government to help them by providing houses.
