Delhi High Court expels abusive sons from elderly parents home

The Delhi High Court has given a ruling that brings some relief to an elderly couple in the Capital.

Mohammad Aftab Khairi and his wife, Shahina Khairi had approached the court seeking relief from their three sons who have been abusing the elderly couple for the last few years. The court has ordered that two of the three sons to vacate the house. The sons also have to pay maintenance of Rs. 5,000 to the elderly couple.

Aftab, who is 68 years, and 57-year-old Shahina say they were forced to approach the court as they could not bear the abuse from their sons. The sons will have to leave the house as soon as possible.

Aftab has built separate houses for all his sons. But they did not honor the agreement to pay the elderly couple Rs. 20,000 every month. Since 2015, the sons and their families had been very abusive, even though Shahina has dementia. She needs continuous treatment and care.
