Elderly, disabled man in Odisha cycles 80-km to chief minister's home for help, returns disappointed
Jugal Kishore Nayak, an elderly and disabled man, had to return to his home disappointed after he travelled 80 kms on his tricycle to meet Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. He had travelled all the way to Bhubhaneshwar to seek financial aid for his ailing daughter.
87-year-old Nayak lives in Chanduramjurai village, a village in Singharpur panchayat in Jagatsinghpur district. He waited for four hours in front of the chief minister's residence. He also visited the Grievance Cell as directed. However, it was all of no use.
Nayak, a widower, has two daughters. One of them has serious physical ailments. He spends Rs. 4,000 on her medical expenses every month. The costs are very high and his old age pension is not enough to meet those expenses.
Nayak has approached local level officials for help for treatment of his daughter. However, his efforts have been in vain. As he could no longer afford the huge expenses, he decided to visit Chief Minister Patnaik's home for help.
Nayak says that he has given up trying to help his daughter.
