Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh report maximum crimes against senior citizens

As per government data, crimes against senior citizens are on the rise in the states of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

The data contains crime statistics between 2014 and 2016.

Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh together reported 7,419 cases of crimes against senior citizens. The total number of such cases filed in the country was 18,714.

In 2015, 20,532 cases of crimes against senior citizens across India were reported. Nearly 40% of these cases were in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

It is shocking that Maharashtra remains at the top when it comes to crimes against the elderly.

New Delhi showed a slight decline in the number of crimes against senior citizens. However, it is still among the top seven states.
