Indian Army warns WhatsApp users against Chinese hackers

The Indian Army has warned that Chinese hackers are targeting the social messaging app, WhatsApp.

As per Intelligence information, the Chinese are trying to hack the WhatsApp platform to access the personal data of users in India.

The Indian Army has also released a video on the social media site Twitter urging people to use WhatsApp carefully.

Reports are that Chinese hackers are trying to get access to WhatsApp groups, as the presence of many members in a group makes it easy for them to remain unidentified.

The Army has warned Indian WhatsApp users to remain alert to any group members with numbers that have the prefix +86.

The report also warns about taking safety precautions while changing their mobile numbers.

It has been advised that in case a SIM card is being changed, it should be destroyed.
