Study raises questions over quality of business schools in India

Expressing concern over the fall in standards of business schools, a study by the industries body ASSOCHAM says that most business schools, apart from the Indian Institutes of Management are producing below average graduates.

Most business school graduates are unable to find jobs and those who manage to, earn less than Rs 10000 a month.

Despite spending over Rs 3.5 lakhs in courses, only 7% of MBA degree holders are employable, says the study. This is because business schools suffer from lack of proper infrastructure, poor campus placement and an inefficient staff. Only the top 20 business school graduates get jobs after they finish their program.

In the last two years, over 200 business schools have closed down and campus placements have gone down by 45%, leading to more business school graduates going without jobs.
