3,000 disabled people in Manipur provided with a monthly stipend by the government

The Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh has said that around 3,000 disabled people, with a disability of 80% or more, have been provided with a monthly maintenance. This is under the program, Chief Ministergi Sotharabasingi Tengbang (CMST).

A sum of Rs 1,500 is being given as an allowance to people with disabilities under the initiative.

Chief Minister Singh was speaking at a program in Imphal. At the event, aids and assistive devices for disabled people was also distributed.

The Manipur government claims that around 70,000 people have enrolled under the initiative.

Mr Singh also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted a quality life for the poor, elderly, disabled people, and weaker sections of the society. There was an effort to bring about inclusive development across India.

Concessions in travel in public transport systems, implementation of new schemes, and discounts will be provided to weaker sections.
