One-day workshop at Shillong for disabled people aims to build inclusion

A one day workshop was held in Shillong in Meghalaya for people with disabilities. It was mainly aimed at inclusion. The event held at Bethany Society, was attended by government officials, parents of disabled people, NGO workers, teachers, and other professionals.

At the workshop, parents were told about the importance of the National Trust Act. This is a statutory body of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.

The National Trust Act was set up for the welfare of persons with autism, cerebral palsy, and multiple disabilities.The workshop aimed to create ecology of equal opportunities, without discrimination, based on gender equality, and access.

Experts at the event said that equal opportunities must be provided to people with disabilities. Their gender, caste, or age must not be looked into while doing so.
