Recently at an event, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan had said that he cannot afford the luxury of being depressed. This statement has not gone well with Bollywood’s leading lady Deepika Padukone, who has been speaking out about the need to address issues around mental health.

At an event in New Delhi, Deepika had stressed that depression can happen to anyone, irrespective of their socio-economic background. She was speaking at the launch of a survey report by her organization Live Love Laugh.

She also took a dig at a recent comment made by Salman Khan about depression. While she did not mention him by name, it was obvious that she was making a reference to Khan's statement calling depression a luxury.

Deepika said that people have a misconception that depression happens only to the rich and successful. She said that it is very important to break the myth about what kind of people feel depressed.
