Schaeffler India empowers disabled women through programmes

Schaeffler India Limited, a leading supplier to the automotive industry, has started a program for disabled people.

The program is under their empowerment project called NITARA. It recently finished training the first batch of 23 women. The programme was done in partnership with LabourNet, a social enterprise that enables sustainable livelihood for men, women and youth in urban and rural areas.

The 23 women have been trained in beauty and wellness services. They have been placed at different salons.

The classes were given in sign language. This helped the women understand and participate in the sessions fully. The training has enabled them to become independent.

Dharmesh Arora, Chief Executive Officer, says that Schaeffler India wants to improve the lives of under-privileged people through different programmes.
