Income Tax Department seizes bank accounts of Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu
The Income Tax Department has taken action against Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu.
As per reports, Sidhu has not paid his taxes for some time. This led to the Income Tax Department seizing two bank accounts of Sidhu.
Three notices were issued to Sidhu before the action was taken. Reports are that he has tax dues amounting to ₹52 lakh.
Sidhu has submitted details of some huge expenses such as ₹38 lakh on travel, ₹47 lakh on staff salary, and ₹28 lakh on clothes.
He has provided all these details in his income tax returns filed for year 2014-15.
However, Sidhu has failed to show supporting bills for the expenses.
