Disabled people in Kerala can now apply for drivers license with minimal hassles

Here is some good news for disabled people from Kerala. The Motor Vehicles department is going to implement their fresh guidelines for disabled people from 1 April, 2018 in issuing a driving license. According to the norms that have been approved by Kerala State Transport Commissioner K Padmakumar, any disabled person who is fit to drive can be given a driver’s license.
People with monocular vision, partial hearing problems, and disability in legs or hands can apply for a driver’s license. A disability certificate must be produced to the Motor Vehicles Department while applying for a license. People who have a disability in their hands or legs must bring their crutches while taking the driving test.
The circular says that if a deaf person is applying for the test, they must make sure that a sign saying the same is there on the vehicle. They will have to take the same test that is taken by people without disabilities
