Petrol and diesel prices touch highest point
The price of fuel went up very high in New Delhi on Sunday. Petrol price went up to a four-year high of Rs 73.73 per litre.
The price of diesel reached an all-time high of Rs 64.58 per litre in New Delhi.
Since 2017, government-owned oil companies have been revising auto fuel prices.
Petrol and diesel rates were increased by 18 paise per litre each in Delhi.
As per reports, the high rates are due to the increase in excise duty. Half of the rates of fuels are due to the high amount of taxes.
As a result, India has the highest retail prices of petrol and diesel among South Asian countries.
The Oil Ministry had proposed a reduction in excise duty on petrol and diesel, but this was rejected by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
