Delhi gets cleanest petrol and diesel in the world
Delhi is all set get the world’s cleanest diesel and petrol. The Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan has confirmed the news.
Delhi is ranked as one of the most polluted cities in the world. The government decided to bring in the cleanest petrol and diesel so that the pollution levels in the environment can come down. The country uses Euro-IV grade petrol and diesel. Now, it has been changed to Euro-VI grade in Delhi. This is cleaner and less polluting.
The Euro VI contains 10 parts per million (ppm) of sulphur. Meanwhile, Euro IV contains 50 ppm of sulphur which is more harmful.
Indian car manufacturers are exporting Euro VI cars to many European countries. Pradhan has asked them to change the driver seats and start using the same ones here. In India, driver seats are on the right side. In other European and American countries, it is on the left side.
Pradhan added that the central government has invested Rs 30,000 crore for developing the technology and upgrading the processes in petroleum industry. He confirmed that by 2020, all states in India will start using the Euro-VI technology for cars.
