London's Heathrow Airport promotes autism awareness

2 April was World Autism Awareness Day, and countries around the world marked the day by promoting awareness about autism.

Heathrow Airport in London is one of the world’s largest airports. Airport authorities here did their bit to promote awareness among passengers.

A specially adapted bus was parked at Terminal 4 of the airport. The bus had a sensory overload to give passengers a sense of how people with autism feel.

This initiative was put together by the NGO Outcomes First Group. This is a London-based organization that aims to raise awareness about autism. There was also a flash mob at the airport.

Autism is a condition where children and adults face challenges in social skills, tend to show repetitive behaviour patterns and have speech challenges. It also comes with unique strengths and differences.
