Simple ideas to keep home cooler in summer
The high temperature of the summer months are intolerable during the day. Using the air conditioner all day will only result in high electricity bills.
Here are some simple ways to keep your home cooler.
A constant flow of air will ensue that air remains fresh in the house. Keep the doors to bedrooms and bathrooms open as much as possible.
Keep the windows open while the temperature outside is still cooler. Early morning and in the evening the air is cooler outside.
Put shades and blinds on the sunny side of the house and keep them closed to keep the heat out. You can use a thick bed sheet or an old curtain to cover a sunny window as well.
If you have a sun window or attic window, open it during the night. The hot air from within will rise up and make the room cooler.
- Hang a big wet towel or bed sheet near the flow of air like a window or the fan. The air will become cooler when it comes in contact with the wet fabric.
