World's oldest man is from Japan

Masazo Nonaka from Japan has been recognized as the oldest man in the world.

Nonaka is 112 years old. He was born on July 25 1905.

Francisco Nunez Olivera from Spain held the title earlier. He died in February 2018 at the age of 113.

As per Nonaka’s family, the secret to his long life is sweets and hot baths.

Nonaka was given a Guinness World Records certificate at his home in Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido this week.

Although he uses a wheelchair to move around, Nonaka is in good health and loves to eat all things sweet.

Japan has been home to several such titles. These include Jiroemon Kimura, who died in June 2013 at the age of 116 years.

As per reports, there are around 68,000 people aged 100 years or older in Japan at present.
