Kerala Tourism hires disabled people and transgender persons for new project
Kerala Tourism will post more than 1000 people as part of their programme to promote tourism in Kerala across the globe. The officials have decided to post disabled people and transgender persons as well. The government of Kerala wants to be inclusive, and ensure that people with disabilities and transgender persons get equal opportunities along with others. A transgender person and two disabled people have already been roped in by the officials to work for Kerala Tourism.
The government said that the educational qualification for applying for posts in tourism department are a plus 2 pass or pre-degree. P Bala Kiran is the Director of Kerala Tourism. He said that they wanted to ensure that disabled people and transgender persons are actively participating in government ventures.
The people who have been roped in by the government will have to make sure that Kerala Tourism is promoted across the world. This move of hiring disabled people and transgender persons is done as part of the ‘State Tourism Policy 2017’ that ensures active participation of the disabled people and transgender persons in promoting tourism.
A 2 day training session will be held at Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Wayanad and Kozhikode from 3 May 3.
