Helpline for children with neuro-developmental disorders started by AllMS, New Delhi
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi has started a centre for the research and advanced study of neurodevelopment disorders in children.
The research centre will focus on diagnosing neurodevelopment disorders and how to treat them effectively. The centre will also make a national registry of children who have neurodevelopment disorders for rehabilitation purposes.
The centre will also help parents of children with such disorders with a helpline to cope with medical emergencies. This is a round-the-clock toll-free helpline. The number of the toll-free helpline is 1800-11-7776. It will be managed by four trained nurse counsellors.
Autism Spectrum Disorder, Epileptic Encephalopathies, Muscular Dystrophies, and Acute Encephalitis Syndromes are some of the main disorders that will be researched at the new AIIMS centre.
There are many children across India who do not get proper guidance and treatment. This new research centre will be a blessing for them. AIIMS is also starting a tele-consultation which will benefit both children with neurodevelopment disorders and their parents as well.
The centre will also provide rehabilitation using the latest technology so that their patients can get maximum benefit out of it.
