South Indian cinema industry shows their support for the campaign, Justice to Asifa
India is shocked over the brutal rape and murder of eight-year-old Asifa Bano from Kathua in Jammu. The apathy of officials, many of whom are involved in the incident, is being seen as a wake up call.
Even the film industry has been moved by the crime.
Superstars from South India posted updates on social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook showing their support for the campaign - Justice to Asifa. The hashtag #justiceforasifa has been viral on social networking sites.
Malayalam superstar Prithiviraj took to Facebook and Twitter to say that India has to hang its head down in shame after what happened to an innocent child. He said that rapes are becoming very common in India. He said he was speechless and at a loss for words.
Tamil film star Jayam Ravi posted that there is no humanity left in the world, and that Asifa’s brutal death and murder is a shame to the entire country.
Actors Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Amy Jackson, Trisha Krishnan, and Malayalam star Nivin Pauly showed their support for Asifa. Many actors from Bollywood also came up to support justice for Asifa.
