India wins more medals in CWG 2018 than previous such events
The Indian contingent at the 2018 Commonwealth Games has performed very well. It has won more medals this time than at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The total number of medals won by the Indian sportsperson is 66, including 26 gold medals.
Indian sportspersons also set 11 CWG records.
The wrestling team did exceptionally well. Each of the 12 Indian wrestlers taking part won medals.
World number one Indian badminton player Kidambi Srikanth won a silver on Sunday. This is his first Commonwealth Games singles medal.
The women's badminton team did India proud with the final being played between two Indian players, Saina Nehwal and P V Sindhu.
Chirag Chandrashekhar Shetty and Satwik Rankireddy won India's first-ever silver medal in the men's doubles badminton, again making history at the Commonwealth Games.
