Here are the real champs from North-East that made the state proud
Recently, the government of North-East had revealed the success stories of disabled people from North-East who has achieved remarkable things for themselves and the state. It was published in the Annual Report on the Implementation of the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995 from Meghalaya. The report reflected on the lives of many successful disabled people from the North-East.
Meet Banjoplang Nongsiej from Shillong, the deaf all-rounder who has been creating his own space in the disabled community. After completing his Bachelors of technology from Kalasalingam University in 2012, Nongsiej knew that his true calling was working for people with disabilities.
Nongsiej started off work as an Assistant Programmer at the National Informatics Centre in Shillong. He used to develop government websites for people with disabilities and he is the one who developed all the sign language videos in the website!
An ardent lover of music and the piano, Nongsiej completed piano grade-I from the prestigious Trinity College of Music and he also secured first division with distinction in both English and Mathematics.
Hubert Paliar is from Mawrok Village at Nongstoin. A passionate baker, Paliar joined the bakery industry with Home Delights Bakers and Confectioners after he realised that it was his true calling. A wrestler too, Paliar has won the first place at the Meghalaya arm wrestling championship in 2015!
Mai Mai Laloo is from Loompyrdi Longpiah in Jowai. He completed his Bachelor Degree from Ferrando Speech and Hearing Center in Ri-Bhoi. Laloo was making artificial limbs and he did a Diploma in Acupressure from Mumbai. Laloo is also a sportsman. He has represented North-East at the event in football and sports for the handicapped held in Delhi.
The report speaks about many disabled people from North-East who has won laurels. Their stories are truly inspirational to many others out there to understand that disability is never a hindrance in following one’s passion!
