Loneliness can lead to stress and depression, says new study

A recent study by a group of researchers from the United States has found out that loneliness can lead to stress and depression. In today’s world, people are easily prone to mental illnesses like depression. Impact of technology and unhealthy lifestyles are some of the main reasons. People become lonelier and do not have anyone to talk to. This loneliness can lead to stress and then to various other health hazards.

A small amount of stress is always good for a person. In this competitive world, good amounts of stress will make the person work harder and will motivate them. It will also make them energetic and focussed. But chronic stress will do more of damage than good. But the good news is that, chronic stress is treatable. It must be identified at the right time and counselling and medication must be provided so that the person can come out of it.

Being stressed too much can lead to cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and inflammation and will also affect one’s immunity. Since people do not realise that they are being over stressed, it goes unnoticed most of the times.
