Tamil cinema strike called off, movies gearing up for release
The Tamil film industry was hit by a strike was called by the film producers and other workers from the industry. The strike has finally been called off.
The demands raised by the producers have been accepted by other organizations and the Tamil Nadu government. These included computerized ticketing, transparency of box office, flexible ticket pricing, and reduction in online booking charges.
There are more than 45 films awaiting release. This was stalled due to the strike. Movies that were under production could not be carried forward due to the strike.
Among the affected films was Rajinikanth’s upcoming Kaala. This was supposed to hit theatres by 26 April. However, there were doubts regarding the release of the movie.
Now, with the strike called off, Rajinikanth fans can hope to see Kaala in theatres soon.
