National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences to open in Maharashtra soon
The Maharashtra government is all set to start a satellite centre of the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in the state. The Minister for Health in Maharashtra, Deepak Sawant, who has confirmed the news.
NIMHANS in Bengaluru is one of the pioneer institutions for mental health and neurosciences across India. In 2012, NIMHANS was named as an Institute of National Importance.
Sawant said that NIMHANS Bengaluru has offered all the help to start off the satellite centre in Maharashtra. They will assist the Maharashtra government in setting it up.
The government has not finalized on the location for the centre. The chances are that it will eb based in Ratnagiri, Pune, Nagpur, or Thane.
Officials believe that the new centre will benefit patients from nearby states like Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh.
