Now book an ‘E-wheelchair’ online across 22 railway stations!

Are you travelling with an elderly or disabled person by train? The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) are all set to ensure that your travel is hassle-free. IRCTC has launched the ‘E-wheelchair’ where you can book for a wheelchair online! You can book it on the website www.irctc.com. If you do not have an internet access, you can call 139 and book for a wheelchair in a station.

The Ministry of Railways has told the Delhi High Court that the service is currently available in 22 railway stations across India. These include Delhi, Varanasi, and Vaishno Devi. The railways plan to expand this service to other stations as well. The Ministry said that the E-wheelchairs will be of great help to the elderly and disabled people.

Recently, a plea was submitted at the Delhi High Court by a blind student named Vaibhav Shukla, who missed his M. Phil exam because he could not reach the train on time at the railway station in New Delhi.

The court was hearing the plea when the Ministry of Railways launched this new service.
