Satellite rights of Rajinikanth’s film, Kaala, sold for Rs 75 crore!
Rajinikanth fans are excited about the release of his upcoming movie Kaala. The latest news is that the film has been bought by the Star Group for a whopping Rs 75 crore. The only movies that has come close to this figure are Baahubali and 2.0.
Kaala was supposed to release by the end of April. However, this was delayed due to a strike called by the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) and the Digital Service Providers. Now it is slated for release on 7 June 2018.
Earlier, Zee Network had bought the satellite rights for Rajinikanth’s 2.0 for Rs 100 crore. This was the highest amount paid for an Indian film.
In Kaala, Rajinikanth play the part of a gangster from Mumbai called Kaala. The script is based on the lives of oppressed people from the Tamil community in Mumbai. Initially, there were reports that the movie is based on the life of famous gangster Haji Mastan. But the crew of the movie denied all such reports.
Kaala is produced by Dhanush, who will play a cameo role in the film. Nana Patekar, Huma Qureshi, Samuthirakani and Anjali Patel are the other actors in the film.
