IPL 2018 - Shane Watson, MS Dhoni steer Chennai Super Kings to victory over Delhi Daredevils
Shane Watson and MS Dhoni scored sensational half-centuries to sweep Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to a 13-run win over Delhi Daredevils in an Indian Premier League match on Monday.
This puts CSK closer to a play-off berth. Watson, with 78 off 40 and Dhoni with a 51 not out off 22, gave lessons in power hitting to put CSK at 211/4. Daredevils opted to field on a good batting surface.
Rishabh Pant, with 79 off 45 and Vijay Shankar, with 51 not out off 31, helped Daredevils get closer to the target but it was not enough. They finished at 198 for five.
CSK pacer Lungi Ngidi made a good start at his IPL debut, ending with figures of one for 26 in four overs. It was Delhi's sixth loss in eight games and now they are all but out of the play-off race.
CSK has further consolidated their position at the top of the points table. They are tied on 12 points with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Dhoni showed his amazing touch in the last five overs which produced 74 runs. It was also Dhoni's second fastest fifty in the IPL.
