Students to get extra marks if parents vote in Karnataka

In order to encourage people to vote in the upcoming elections in the state of Karnataka, a unique idea will be followed.

Students in Karnataka will get extra marks, if their parents cast votes in the upcoming assembly elections.

This has been declared by the Associated Management of Primary and Secondary Schools in the state.

The parents will need to visit the schools of their kids after voting and show the mark of the indelible ink on their fingers.

The extra "Encouraging Marks" will be added to the students score in the 2018-19 academic year.

A total of four marks will be given if both the father and mother cast their vote meaning parents can get two marks each.

In case of pre-primary and Class 10 students, marks will not be allocated and schools will announce rewards and select them through lottery.

Assembly elections will be held in Karnataka on 12 May.
