Punjab and Haryana governments asked to produce reports on disabled homes
The High Courts of Haryana and Punjab have asked the governments and administrations of the two states to become more sensitive to the needs of disabled people at homes.
The court has said that power and water supplies to homes for disabled people should not be cut off at any cost.
The court has asked authorities to provide a detailed report on the state of homes for disabled people in both these states.
A 15-page report submitted earlier on the plight of disabled youngsters at these homes had revealed the terrible conditions they live in. Among those mentioned were wheelchair cricket and rugby players.
Just a few months ago, a report on the conditions of a home for disabled people in Chandigarh had exposed the miserable conditions. They were not even provided food and water.
